Self-aligning ball bearings, with a tapered bore, have two rows of balls, a common spherical raceway in the outer ring and two deep continuous grooves in the inner ring. They are insensitive to misalignment of the shaft relative to the bearing housing, which can occur, for example, due to shaft deflection. The tapered bore facilitates assembly via tension or thrust bushings.
